10 Tips for Beginners in RIFT: A Guide to Getting Started in the Game

RIFT is a popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that offers players a vast and immersive world to explore. Whether you're new to the game or a seasoned veteran, there are always new things to learn and discover. If you're just starting out in RIFT, here are 10 tips to help you get off to a good start:

Familiarize yourself with the controls and interface. RIFT uses a standard MMO control scheme, but it's still important to take some time to get used to the layout and functionality of the interface.

Choose the right character class for you. RIFT has four character classes to choose from: Warrior, Cleric, Rogue, and Mage. Each class has its own unique abilities and playstyle, so it's important to choose the one that fits your preferred playstyle.

Learn about the different planes of existence. RIFT is set in a world called Telara, which is divided into four planes of existence: Water, Earth, Fire, and Air. Each plane has its own unique environment, creatures, and quests, so it's important to explore them all to get the full RIFT experience.

Get to know your abilities and skills. As you level up, you'll unlock new abilities and skills that you can use in combat. It's important to familiarize yourself with these abilities and learn how to use them effectively in different situations.

Join a guild. Guilds in RIFT are groups of players who work together to complete quests, defeat difficult enemies, and earn rewards. Joining a guild is a great way to make new friends and get help when you need it.

Don't be afraid to ask for help. RIFT is a complex game with a lot of content to explore. If you get stuck or have a question, don't be afraid to ask for help from other players or the game's community.

Explore the world. RIFT has a vast and immersive world to explore, with dozens of zones and hundreds of quests to complete. Take your time and explore as much as you can to get the most out of the game.

Find a balance between questing and crafting. RIFT has a robust crafting system that allows players to create their own gear, consumables, and other items. While questing is important for leveling up and earning rewards, don't neglect crafting, as it can provide you with valuable resources and gear.

Take breaks and pace yourself. RIFT is a game that can be played for hours on end, but it's important to take breaks and pace yourself to avoid burnout. Set aside dedicated playtime and make sure to take breaks when you need them.

Have fun! Above all else, RIFT is a game meant to be enjoyed. Don't get too caught up in the details or stress about getting the perfect gear or completing every quest. Just relax, have fun, and enjoy the journey.

5 PC Tips For New Gamers

Have you just started playing games on PC? Then, there are a number of things to think about for the desired gaming experience. Even if you have been playing games on PC for a while now, there are a few elements you might be missing. No matter what, you need to know how to manage your PC and maintain a high-performing gaming library. Every new player makes mistakes in certain departments, which results in low-quality gaming experience or computer issues that trouble again and again. This article has five major PC tips that every newbie gamer should follow from the very beginning.

· Organize your library of games

Various online platforms provide games to download. However, you should not start rushing to load every game at once on your computer. It will do nothing but reduce the storage space faster. Initially, you should think about organizing the installations before downloading games. Know the storage space you have, and then prepare a library of games that stays in your control. For that, you have to decide different installation pathways on your computer.

· Configure hardware settings

Your PC needs some setting tweaks, depending on the graphics card you have. Gpunerd.Com is the right place to find out about graphics cards. Then, you can configure the hardware of your PC with the right software. Adding features of recording ongoing games and stream settings become possible with this configuration.

· Update your drivers

Any reduction in gaming quality can irritate you when playing. Hence, it would be wise to take care of the potential issues in advance. Updating your PC is one of those responsibilities that decide the gaming performance. This way, you get to prolong the performance and overall life of the hardware.

Graphics driver requires special attention in terms of updates. You have to get the new upgrades to ensure a high FPS when playing. There are programs out there offered by software and tools to automatically update graphics drivers. You should definitely invest in those programs.

· Change your monitor

If your monitor is slow, there is no point having the best graphics card. You will never get the true satisfaction of PC games. Full motion experience of games is possible with an advanced monitor that comes with more than 120 Hz of refresh rate. Upgrade your PC with a monitor that offers quick response time and provides high-quality color accuracy.

· Get yourself advanced controllers

An old keyboard, headset and mouse are not the modern-age gaming style. They don’t give you the desired experience too. Hence, it is better to upgrade to better controllers to make every click feel real. Connect a compatible controller to your PC and you will feel a sudden increase in your performance skills. A controller allows you to have more in-depth experience when playing games on PC.

You have started playing games on PC. Now is the time to start feeling like a pro PC gamer. Follow the mentioned tips to empower your gaming skills and keep your PC in top-notch condition.

The One Level 60 Guide - daily routine

I've been 60 for a while, but haven't really done too much research into what I should actually be doing with my time other than questing and zone events.

Still might need to work a bit at getting better with chronicles, but I can at least bang out the other dailies like nobody's business (I've randomly grabbed Ashora dailies while passing through, but never included it as a part of my routine).

Thoughts on the Dendrome weeklies? My computer is crap, so I've only forced myself to suffer through the lag a handful of times), but I guess if I want to get serious, I should consider adding those into the rotation...

Mage Stat and Item Comparison

Most players havent found a good way to compare items and stats just yet. Well a spreadsheet has been made that gives you all this info to help you. The creator of this nice spreadsheet made an easy to follow guide for it. Here is the guide plus a link to the spreadsheet

You need to know the coefficients of your spells to make effective use of it. If you search the forums you might find someone who has already figured them out, but they may have had talents that skewed the numbers. To figure it out for yourself, cast a spell with no talents that increase the damage (+ life, + dmg, etc) on the targeting dummy several times to get the min/max hit. Subtract the average tooltip damage from your average actual hit, and divide that number by your spellpower.

Marksman exploit - instant frontal "Retreat"

This exploit will grant you the ability of using retreat to jump forwards, instead of backwards.

Will save you many times in warfronts, world pvp when you need to escape, carry the sourcestone in WF faster, without needing to swap to a Runner build.

How to:
it works by using On the Double and Retreat while jumping

keybind the two abilities on 1 button each
example: E for "On the Double" and Q for "Retreat"

Now: Press E (On the Double), run forward, then first jump + press Q (Retreat) the same time or a milisecond delay but not more

It will get you forwards, and have the 70% speed from On the Double to run even further.
It works 10/10 if you get a little practice for pressing jump + q instantly

Note: Jump first but Retreat instantly after,

Drake Faming Exploit At HK Chronicle

  • Kill everyone in the first hallway and everything int he lower room except the drakes at HK chronicle.
  • Kill the murdantix boss and clear everything in the rooms right behind the boss.
  • Take the portal where the faceless man spawns in the game. This will take you to the start of the level.
  • Speak to the dwarf to finish the chronicle and loot the chest.
  • Walk out of the portal behind you.
  • Reque for the HK Chronicle again.
  • Go down the hallway and kill the 7 normal drakes near by but leave the brood mother alone
  • Click "leave chronicle"
  • Go back in and kill the drakes again.
  • Best part of this is they will instant respawn and you can get the mount which trades pretty well in the AH.
  • Took me about an hour but thats not to bad considering the drops you are getting. Just remember to leave the broodmother alive.

Also, if you do this enough times...for some reason it respawns most of the mobs in the dungeon, including the bosses.

The rune vessel is not there so Murandix is a little harder to solo but he can be killed again, as well as most of the trash from Molinars room.

Molinar and the Prince are respawned, but the portal is still there from where you killed them before, and once you get them to 1 health they don't go any lower. Cant kill them again.

As far as the drakes go, they are duplicated...yup thats right there are 2 in each location for a total of 14 drakes, as well as 2 broodmother bosses standing on top of each other.

if you do the usual and kill the drakes and leave, they'll dupe again, and again. They dont dupe every time you reenter but they do alot. I did this maybe ten times and got them to dupe six times of the ten. Since I didnt think I could handle more than 6 in one pull solo I went ahead and tried to pull one of the broodmother bosses...but of course they all came and I died instantly lol.

Quick Power Leveling

So with this new world event came new rifts, and with that a new way to level

The secret is you need to find a water rift named: From the Abyss

Its the one that starts with lots of treasure chests in the middle.

Anyway get the rift into the 2nd stage (you will have the goal of killing 4 water elementals)
Kill only 3, as there are usually 3 close together ones and 1 thats off to the side.

Keeping up this last mob allows the rift to continue spawning adds that give 1% of a level per kill with only 1.4k hp (in a level 35-36 rift) I have tried this on several toons, within different level ranges and this brings true for all zones ive tried so far.

Happy Leveling

Rift Jumping Achievements In 5 Seconds Guide

Here is a nice little trick / guide for rift online on how you can easily get all your jumping achievements in the game in about five seconds with pretty much no work at all on your part.

by doing this you will get all these achievements within 5 seconds:
A Quick Escape
So Much Fun, I Did It Twice
Plop!
Are You Nuts!
Lovers Leap
I Hope This is Just Water
I Wish I had a Barrel
Falling for Fortune
High Diver + Title

The only reason this works because i BELIEVE all of them are based on the height you jump from and the zone you are in, and you are not in a zone when you fall from these coords..

You need a hack that you can set your own coordinates (i used MMONinja), just set your coords to 1, 1, 2000 (x,y,z)

Now just wait for your character to fall and congratz I had to do it twice to make sure I got all the achievements. ENJOY!

EDIT: Does not work in either starting zone, you will fall and die, but i did find some cool random buildings

Quick Note on Endgame DPS (for those who are Greenscale bound)

Versatility. That is the main thing you need to have. All the bosses in Greenscale have various and intriguing mechanics, and none, I mean NONE act like the Boss dummy, and just stand there waiting to get hit. I am sick of people showing off parsers of their +1k dps on Boss dummies when it is irrelevant when you are dodging bombs or running to burn adds down.

What you need to have mastered: Single Target DPS Vs AOE DPS - Certain bosses in Greenscale have more adds in them then others. You may be asked to switch from a boss nuking roll to an AOE roll to help out the off tanks. I suggest rogues have a specific single target DPS role (melee or ranged) and have a ranged AOE roll as well (31 ranger hybrid of some sorts.) Mages should come prepared with a Stormcaller build and be proficient with it along with their normal single target DPS role.

DPS vs Support - You may be asked to play an off role. Rogues should ALWAYS have a full 51 point Bard spec and/or Tank spec on hand, mages should have an Archon or Cholromancer spec ready. Some bosses only require X amount of healers, so Clerics should be prepared with a kickass DPS spec and Warriors should have both a Tank set and DPS set.

Raid Awareness - All the bosses in Greenscale have One-Shot moves besides their enrage timers (except Duke, but it doesn't take much for him to wipe the raid in a few hits.) So being aware and alert to the boss's mechanics and what is going on around you is clutch. Learn the fights and watch the videos before you even think about making a raid, your raid leaders should never have to explain in detail the fight mechanics.

Don't pad the meters. It doesn't matter if you are pulling 1200DPS on Hylas if the raid keeps wiping. Be prepared to sacrifice DPS for group utility.

Riftology 101 - Rift Tips, Tricks and Hints

Rift is a rare specimen in the MMOG world, instead of shedding subscriptions like fleas from a sinking dog it is actually picking up steam as it heads into its second month. Whether you are a vet of the genre or a total noob, each new game brings with it its own new wrinkles and idiosyncrasies. To help you get the most out of your Rift experience, we threw together a quick primer of tips, tricks and hints to help get you acclimated.

General

  • Devil in the Details – The little things matter in Rift, add runes when available and don’t forget to keep your Source Core updated and upgraded. These seemingly small statistical gains offer huge benefit.
  • Rift it Up – They didn’t name the game Rift for nothing. Do as many rift events as you can: besides being tons of fun and a great way to meet people – their rewards are tangible and often the fastest path to improving your character.
  • Shard It – Currency rewards earned during rift events are divided into three categories – Purple, Blue and Planarite (Green). Purple and Blue shards are useable only in the zone they were earned in, while Planarite is universal (and the most common)
  • In the Bag – Upgrade your bags as soon as you can afford it, you will need the extra space. When you replace the bags simply drag and drop the new one onto the hotbar slot of the bag you wish to replace and all the items will magically swap to the new container.
  • Spells Queue Too – Similar to EQ2, you can queue up the next spell/ability you want to use by pressing it while the current one is casting. The queue length can be modified in the setting menu, it can even be removed if you like to mash buttons and clip spells.
  • Tweet Tweet – If you have a twitter account you can instantly share accomplishments and screenshots will all your followers by using the /twitter or /twitterpic commands in game.
  • Riddle Me This – Each zone has a unique puzzle that grants a reward and an achievement when solved. Be on the lookout for a guide to these puzzles here soon.

UI

  • Super Size Me  - You can change the default UI scale in the settings menu, from microscopic to geriatric.
  • Stock Options - Rift has a robust set of interface options that directly effect gameplay, but most are disabled by default. Access Settings and then Interface to enable the features you want.
  • Imported – From the main menu you can access this handy feature which allows you to clone virtually any aspect of the interface from one character to another (provided they are on the same shard)
Use the slash command /exportui or /exportkeybindings and /importui and importkeybindings to share settings with characters on different shards

  • Color by Role – Since there are so many different class combinations in Rift, UI bars are color coded to reflect role instead. Healers are blue, Ranged DPS are yellow, Melee DPS are brown, Tanks are red and Support classes are purple.
  • Control-F – This key combination allows you to search your bags.
  • Key Binds – No need to scroll through a long list of keys to bind an action in Rift, simply hover the mouse over the corresponding button on your UI and activate the key you want to bind.
  • On a Role – The icons in your character window that show your roles also double as hotkeys to quick swap them. Just drag them over to your hotbar for one touch action.
  • Quick Sell – Tucked into the bottom right corner of a vendor’s inventory window is a small circular button that allows you to instantly sell all grey quality trash items.
  • That’s a Plus – Clicking on another player should display a small circle at the top of their character portrait with a + sign on it. Click that symbol to be added to that players group – this is super helpful when engaging a named quest mob.
  • Where’s the Loot – After completing a rift or world event the loot will be available in a pop up window resembling the objective window, click the circular button that looks like a bag to collect your loot.
  • Boom Goes the Dynamite – Healers and DPS will both love the handy Cast on Target of Target feature. By enabling this feature in the settings menu, you can simply keep the tank targeted and do damage to their target to maintain healing focus or to prevent attacking the wrong mob.

While this list is far from complete, it should be a good head start to get you going on the way to Rift supremacy. Have some great tips and tricks of your own? Reply with them below and we will update our list with the best of them.

Rift trick To Have Rogues Gain Full Health Quickly

Basically there is a way to exploit the enduring brew on a rogue to give you a full health buff instead of a debuff.

This is a cheap way to get to full health on rogue if you do not have any drinks on you.

1. Use enduring brew.
2. Switch role (Removes debuff)
3. Switch back to assassin
4. Use enduring brew
5. Repeat from 1

Instant Respawn Kingswood Node

There are a few nodes in the game where the node instantly re-spawns as soon as you gather it. While I have found a few I will only be posting one (see if you guys can find more!).

Shimmersand (6513, 6770) | Kingswood (rarely Mahogany).
Average 2 Kingswood per gather; 5sec cast time + lat; ~28-30 stacks an hour (@ 50 a stack)

Only tested on one shard so I would appreciate if others could check it out to see if they get the same results!
I believe I know why some nodes appear to do this but I am sure this will be fixed quickly anyway.
Anyways... enjoy.

Cleric Trick - Get multiple healing procs from Planar Essences

This "trick" may not be around for long as it makes Clerics and any class capable of proccing heals pretty much invincible and able to solo most mobs in the game including elites.

First things first, get to a Rare Planar Goods (not a regular planar goods npc) vendor and pick up a Planar Essence that procs on heals.

There should be one of these in each zone.

The cost should bet a purple zone sourceshard and a lot of planarite. For example, the Stonefield one is called Gleaming Stone Seed.

Once equipped in a greater planar slot, it causes your heals to have a chance to proc a 300 hp heal over 8 seconds.

The trick here is it is supposed to heal 300 health total over 8 seconds.

Now you're thinking "why does this matter? You are dumb"

It is here where I say "NO U" because the Justicar tree has an ability called Salvation that heals you for damage done. It counts as a casted heal and it procs this ability from the greater planar essence. So while smashing faces around, you're getting sweet 2400 heals.

Wait, did I say 2400? Yes. The item is bugged so that instead of providing 300 healing over 8 seconds, it gives 300 healing every second for 8! 2400 hp heals total!

So what's the best way to take advantage of this? Try this build on for size:

Soul Tree Calculator: Shaman (31) / Justicar (11) / Druid (0) :: Rift: Planes of Telara :: ZAM

The shaman tree naturally does a lot of damage (which is good because Salvation healing is based on damage done) and also has a talent that increases healing received! Justicar gives you some 5% extra damage, a ranged attack, as well as the important Salvation healing and boosts for it. The third tree is kind of useless but the Fearie healing gets the buff as well, so yeah.

Grab the Freemarch trinket that procs heals for an added boost/hilarity.

How to get max rewards from Rifts the easy way

A lot of you may have noticed that when you start the battle against a Rift there is a gauge that appears that shows the current stage of the rift (they typically go between 3,5,8+ stages) with a meter on the side.

That meter goes between grey to bronze to silver to gold and it depends on how much you "contribute" to the closing of the rift for that stage (typically people assume this means how much damage you contribute).

If you keep that meter in the gold for every stage of the rift's cycle and successfully close it, you will gain far superior rewards over those who do not contribute as much.

Now, while attacking does help, the real trick to rifts is not to do the most damage or heal the most.

The real trick is to spam the most abilities as fast as possible, this will raise your contribution meter the fastest with the minimal amount of effort and risk of death.

This is why attacking mobs helps, but in fact most classes have short cast time abilities and while everyone else is blowing long cooldowns going for big nukes or lots of damage, you can spam the shortest group buff or DOT you have and you will blow them away on the meter.

As an example, as a rogue class with the bard spirit, I spam the Motifs non stop (Motif of Focus, Regeneration & Bravery) as fast as possible and I get gold every single round.

This is likely to be patched in the near future but not many people seem to know about it right now (I get spammed constantly with PMs from people asking me if i'm retarded or why I keep spamming my Motifs constantly, I guess they don't notice me looting more than anyone else every round :/).

So go out and exploit this as much as possible before it's patched! Remember 100% spam 0% contribution, pure profit!
